Cartoon #1: Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was one of the most important parts of Monroe's Presidency. In this document, Monroe warns other countries not to interfere with America. In this political cartoon, the author shows Uncle Sam standing on top of the world. Moreover, the author drew a document titled "Monroe Doctrine" and underneath it wrote "hands off". This represents how much power that the America received from the Monroe Doctrine and shows their status in relation to the rest of the world. Furthermore, the Monroe Doctrine was an important part of American history because it later shaped the ideas of America's foreign policy.

This cartoon shows a lot of key events during his presidency such as but not limited to, the national bank, the Missouri Compromise, the end of the War of 1812 prior to the beginning of the Era of Good Feelings, and more. Reading the speech bubbles are important for understanding the opinions of all the citizens during this time. The author uses many symbols in this picture, but one of the most effective is the bomb that is ticking that says 'slavery'. This represents how slavery has increased during this time.

In this political cartoon, the author shows Uncle Sam, who represents America again holding a baseball bat that says Monroe Doctrine written on it. This symbolizes how much power that America has compared to the other states. In specific, the Monroe Doctrine was targeted at certain countries below America in South America and in this cartoon Uncle Sam is stepping on them. Likewise, Uncle Sam is stepping on the Western Hemisphere of the United States and that was also a place the Monroe Doctrine targeted. In summary, the Monroe Doctrine was a warning for the rest of the world.
